FREMONT, Calif. (KGO) -- A suspect who allegedly stole a delivery truck is in custody after a standoff in Fremont overnight Thursday, police say.
Fremont Police say they responded to a UPS truck driving erratically in the area of Grimmer Blvd and Auto Mall Parkway after 1:30 a.m. It was confirmed that the truck had been stolen, and officers chased the suspect.
Police say the suspect barricaded himself in the vehicle for several hours after it was disabled. Video shows the suspect coming out from the back of the truck and crawling on the ground, surrendering to police around 5:40 a.m.
"We don't know where the person stole the stole ups truck from. No weapon was fired," Fremont Police Sgt. Cooper Mauldin said.
It's unclear what was in the truck because police hadn't searched it yet. There is also no word on a motive.
Grimmer Blvd was closed for a time but has since ropened.
